Prof. Dr. Dirk Hermans is a clinical psychologist and cognitive behaviour therapist. He is a Professor in Behaviour Science and Experimental Psychopathology at the KU in Leuven, Belgium. Hermans studies the mechanisms that give rise to emotional issues and the factors that keep those issues going. He is especially interested in the memory- and learning processes. Since 1996 he has been involved as a primary author in the 'Introduction to Behavioural therapies', a book which has been an essential book for people working in that field. The last edition of this book came out in 2017.
