DBT 3 - Roleplay 2 - Interfering behaviour
In this role-play, Esther Grootenboer demonstrates how to deal with therapy-interfering behavior. In Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), such behavior is the second priority in individual therapy sessions, immediately following self-harm.
If there has been any self-harm in the previous week, it needs to be the focal point of the therapy session. Otherwise, the focus shifts to therapy-interfering behavior. This can occur on the part of the patient (not showing up, canceling appointments, not filling in their diary card, not doing homework) as well as on the part of the therapist (canceling appointments, not asking questions that could help the patient improve behavior). This video will address both scenarios.
Esther will show how to work with this in a non-judgmental, open, and neutral manner.
