Professor Solms is a leading figure in the study of the brain mechanisms behind dreaming and in integrating neuroscience with psychoanalysis. He is a Professor of Neuropsychology at UCT, a lecturer in neurosurgery in London, and Director of the Neuropsychoanalysis Center in New York. He has published extensively, with his book Clinical Studies in Neuro-Psychoanalysis winning the Gradiva Award. His latest work, The Brain and the Inner World, is a best-seller translated into 13 languages. In 2000, he was named International Psychiatrist of the Year by the American Psychiatric Association.
